International Speaker.

Mango Bay Group of Companies held their Annual Staff Awards on May17th, 2024. We went through a list of names of persons before who might be able to do our keynote address. We wanted someone who would light up the room with a message that would resonate with each and every person, and then remembered that Cherita O’Dell whose personal journey we’ve watched, admired and respected, was now a motivational speaker on both the local and international stage. We thought that Cherita’s story would capture the attention of anyone normally easily distracted during a “speech”!

Cherita agreed to be our keynote speaker and, she totally wowed her audience!!

She based her presentation on parallel experiences with our staff that she had in her earlier years as a hotel employee so that they could easily relate to what she was saying, and then led them through her examples of what great service looks like not by teaching or preaching, but by reminding the team of all the remarkable ways in which they effortlessly provide wonderful, impactful service every day!

The message was positive, enlightening, uplifting and relevant, and one which left every single person in the room feeling so good about themselves at the end of her delivery, and wanting to hear more!!

I have worked with Cherita Odell, in a number of ways over the last decade, and she has been a beacon of light to entrepreneurs, women and creatives. Cherita O’dell provided keynote remarks at the YLAI Virtual Opening orientation for over 250 Fellows, program partners, Government officials, and other guests. I can’t explain in words the depth of the energy that Cherita brought to the event with her remarks! She was inspiring, and authentic, and she connected with attendees from across the region. The YLAI Fellows were completely and utterly blown away by her remarks!

When you think of an inspiring speaker you might think of someone eloquent and energetic – Cherita is those things, but she is also incredibly thoughtful about how she connects with the audience. For YLAI’s remarks, she considered the entrepreneurial journey our Fellows might be on. Since many of them are at different stages in their journeys she provided key points to allow everyone to relate to her differently. She talked about her childhood, schooling, experience as a competitive athlete, growing pains to reach success, and what to do once you climb that mountain.

Cherita is a true inspiration and someone I feel privileged to have worked with for this event. I can’t recommend her enough – she’s a genuine person with fierce energy.

Cherita is a great public speaker – confident, relatable and engaged. She shares her wealth of knowledge in digestible chunks without excessive reliance on props or Powerpoint.

Cherita was on point when she spoke to my team on International Women’s Day. Professional, open, relatable, authentic, and hilarious are a few of the words that come to mind when I think of any interaction I’ve had with Cherita over the years, and her presentation as our keynote speaker at the just concluded Make Music; Make a Difference (3MD) programme graduation, did not disappoint or lack these characteristics.

Mrs. Cherita O’dell was the keynote speaker at the 190th Anniversary celebrations of the Barbados Police Service.
